Books and Transcripts
 |
While the lectures are general in their explanation of Christian Science, there are books and transcripts that focus on specific subjects and explain in more detail how prayer enables you to overcome sickness, disease, difficult relationships, age, lack, loneliness, grief, anxiety, and other challenges.
One main source for elementary study are the articles from The Christian Science Journal, which dates back to 1883, and the Christian Science Sentinel which was founded in 1898. The periodicals published articles by some of the finest Scientists in the movement. The spiritual transparency of these early workers brought enlightenment and healing to countless others. The writers assume that the reader is somewhat familiar Christian Science. Today the terminology and concepts that were so different from the old theology of yesterday, have become familiar even to those who know little or nothing about this Science, and understanding these terms and ideas is much easier then in the past.
These writings explain how to use Christian Science to overcome the mental causes of our problems. They make this Science relevant to our present needs. Out of the thousands of articles written for the periodicals, a certain number have become classics and are very helpful as in introduction to the fundamentals of Christian Science.
In these publications, The Bookmark is presenting the best of the past. Some collections are by favorite authors such as Louise Knight Wheatley Cook and Milton Simon. Other collections are made up of articles by different writers, some focused on a specific subject. These collections come as either hard cover books or as transcripts in a report binder.
