This collection of poems by Mary Baker Eddy covers most of her life, from girlhood to her final year on earth. It is a comprehensive anthology of verse written by her during times of both joy and sorrow, the reading of which will enable you to peer inside the mind and heart of one of the most brilliant and controversial women of all time… Her poems are both heart-wrenching and uplifting, for they tell her story from her perspective, as no one else can.

RESOLUTIONS FOR THE DAY

To rise in the morning and drink in the view –
    The home where I dwell in the vale,
The blossoms whose fragrance and charms ever new
    Are scattered o’er hillside and dale;

To gaze on sunbeams enkindling the sky –
    A loftier life to invite –
A light that illumines my spiritual eye,
    An inspires my pen as I write;

To form resolutions, with strength from on high,
    Such physical laws to obey,
As reason with appetite, pleasures deny,
    That health may my efforts repay;

To kneel at the altar of mercy and pray
    That pardon and grace, through His Son,
May comfort my soul all the wearisome day,
    And cheer me with hope when ’tis done; 

In this age of hypnotic control, mental manipulation, subliminal suggestion, and brain-washing, the victim is often unable to defend himself from mental attacks — unless he understands the power of scientific prayer to block the influence of such mesmerism. The study of Christian Science provides this protection.

Early in her work to establish the Cause of Christian Science, Mrs. Eddy recognized the harmful, sometimes lethal, effects of silent hypnotic work. She instructed her students to handle malicious animal magnetism and aggressive mental suggestion. Workers in her home, supporting her in her work, were expected to pray daily to counteract the malicious malpractice that Mrs. Eddy was meeting. Watches, Prayers, Arguments is a collection of short, powerful treatments written or dictated by Mrs. Eddy for her workers to use in the handling of every kind of mesmerism.

One of the “Watches” states: “Mentally treat yourself that nothing can govern your actions or come to your thought that is not from divine Mind. Be strong there. So many sinister suggestions come to mind, watch! and each day commit yourself to the care of our one Parent, trust Him in all your ways for light to direct your footsteps and wisdom to enable you to separate the tares from the wheat — so that you can judge well between the human or the evil ‘suggestions’ and the good or divine impulse.” Many of these watches are included in the Blue Book, but this complete collection, with an outstanding introduction by Mr. Carpenter, is well worth having.

The Evolution of the Christian Science Textbook traces our textbook’s development from 1875 through to 1910.  The major revisions reveal how the pattern of evolution matches the original creation recorded in Genesis.  This is linked with major historical events in the progressive establishment of Christian Science, statements by Mrs. Eddy, and notices in the Journal and Sentinel.  The text of ten sections is augmented by fifteen appendices.

This document explains the divine genesis of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Mrs. Eddy comments on the seventh day, “Unfathomable Mind is expressed. … That is enough!” (Science and Health 520:3-7.)  The root meaning of the Hebrew word seven is enough. 

Revelation chapter 10 prefigures the delivery of divine Science to earth, and Mrs. Eddy enjoins, “Read this book from beginning to end.  Study it.  Ponder it.”  (S&H pp. 558-559.)

In this one book are seven of Mrs. Eddy’s sermons or messages to her Church: Christian Healing, Pulpit and Press, The People’s Idea of God, Christian Science versus Pantheism, Message to The Mother Church for 1900, 1901, 1902. Through these addresses, she establishes Christian Science as a religion that transcends theological dogma and brings to mankind the living Christ, or divine Principle, Love, that heals the sick and sinning. In her “Message to The Mother Church for 1902,” she writes: “Divine Science fulfills the law and the gospel, wherein God is infinite Love, including nothing unlovely, producing nothing unlike Himself, the true nature of Love intact and eternal. Divine metaphysics concedes no origin or causation apart from God. The first part of this book records the dedication in 1906 of the Extension of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The second part is primarily a collection of letters, articles, and messages by Mrs. Eddy to her students, through which she tenderly and wisely counsels the reader to live the Christ. She writes: “Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. Therefore despair not nor murmur, for that which seeketh to save, to heal, and to deliver, will guide thee, if thou seekest this guidance.”
