In the ordinary things of life, we are constantly encountering what mortal mind calls difficulties. They are less likely to occur if we are continually refuting the false suggestions that present themselves to us, whether they seem to be personal or remote. Every erroneous suggestion must be replaced by a right idea. Sometimes one achieves a certain sense of freedom and rests in that. It is like the man referred to in the Bible who built barns to bestow all his goods and the Lord said: “This night thy soul shall be required of thee” (Luke 12:20). In other words, “This night you must gain a spiritual sense and see the unreality of materiality.” We cannot rest in past accomplishments, but must maintain constant alertness in order to progress Spiritward.

The study of Christian Science gives us infinite wisdom, ever-available, but it requires work on our part regarding our ambitions, desires and hopes in order that we may be properly directed. It appears that we should be wiser and more alert than we are at times. We should make actual declarations of Truth and actual denials of error in regard to ourselves, our families, our desires, our homes, our churches, our businesses and our world, in order to gain more dominion.

We are apt to gain a certain point of understanding and achieve some result and then we stop, forgetting that this is only a step. If we have self-satisfaction in one step forward, how can we gain the kingdom of heaven? True satisfaction is not self-satisfaction. Satisfaction is the nature of true being, operating as Mind. It is peace. It is Love unmistakable. It is Principle actually operating as the Mind of the individual. The happiness gained is not to be rested in, because there is no limit to happiness. It must expand and grow, for it is of God. Remember, Mrs. Eddy says (S&H 60:30): “happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul.”

Addresses included in Vol IV are:

• “Seeking and Finding” – Address of 1965

• “Out of Darkness into Light” – Address of 1966

• “As He Thinketh… So Is He” – Address of 1967

“Our thinking determines our being. Whatever may seem to be wrong in the body or in the world can only be changed by right thinking. However it may seem that things are outside of ourselves, they are nevertheless included in our consciousness and it is here that the change must take place. Everything is subjective.

Believe!
Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you; For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened” (Matt. 7:7,8). Do you believe this promise? Jesus also said, “What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24). Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health “The Hebrew verb to believe means also to be firm or to be constant. This certainly applies to Truth and Love understood and practiced” (Science and Health 23:32-2).

Divine Facts from God.
It is not only necessary to state divine facts, but one must truly believe them and adhere to them. We must admit that divine facts come from God and being from God they are effective in practice.

In the measure that these facts are admitted, apprehended, and accepted, they manifest God or good to man. To the extent that they are understood, they must inevitably heal disease, save from sin, redeem from vice and all evil habits. In this way, the human being appears more like the divine likeness. To attain a semblance of divinity, one must gain a better understanding of God, for only in this way do we learn to understand ourselves and our fellowman as we really are.

Pauline B. Rader Association Addresses included in Vol III are:

• “Christian Science The Final Answer” – Address of 1962
• “Rules and Guides for a More abundant Life” – Address of 1963
• “The Truth Shall Make You Free” – Address of 1964

In her 1962 Association Address titled “Christian Science the Final Answer”, Pauline B. Rader states: “The longer I study Christian Science, the more convinced I become that healings are delayed, or seem in some instances not to appear, because Christian Scientists are not thorough enough in their efforts to replace every suggestion of evil with a divine fact. There is a tendency to feel that, if one hears of error being rampant in a corner of the globe remote from one’s own experience, he can shrug it off as not being his concern. This is far from the fact. Since we know that thought is a power and a force in the world, we should know that any circumstance or condition that comes to our notice, or is presented to us for acceptance, must be dealt with as vigorously and thoroughly as though it were our own experience. The fact is that if we are admitting that error is going on anywhere, and leaving it unchallenged, we are virtually saying that there is some place or some condition where God is not, or does not have power. Such an admission opens the door for error to try to assert itself in some problem that appears as our own. The moment Christian Scientists accept this challenge and meet it, a great change will take place in the world.”

In her 1963 Association Address titled Rules and Guides for a More abundant Life she states: “Mrs. Eddy mentions the First Commandment many times in her writing. She tells us that Jesus urged the First Commandment and says it may be rendered: ‘Thou shalt have no belief of Life as mortal; thou shalt not know evil, for there is one Life, – even God, good.’
In this same manner we might use all of the other synonyms for God in the way Mrs. Eddy has used Life. We could say, Thou shalt not know evil or experience error of any kind, for there is one Truth – even God. Thou shalt not know hate, or suffering, or despair, for God is Love. Thou shalt not accept the so-called laws of materia medica or suggestions of mortal mind, nor believe in material causes and effects, for there is one Principle, one divine law, one perfect Cause, God, and perfect man the effect. Thou shalt not believe in soul in body for God is Soul. Thou shalt have no belief of matter as substance, for Spirit, God, is the only substance. Thou shalt have no belief in minds many for there is one Mind, even God, the supreme intelligence controlling the universe and man.”

In her 1964 Association Address titled “The Truth Shall Make You Free”, Pauline B. Rader states: “Christ Jesus said, ‘If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free’ [John 8:31, 32]. If you have come here today with any unsolved problem, take your stand right now that you do know the Truth, and that through the reasoning together that we do here your freedom will be apparent to you. What you will hear is the Truth. The degree of expectancy and acceptance on your part will determine the freedom you will experience.”
