Hugh A. Studdert Kennedy came from a family of clergymen, he himself having been ordained to the ministry of the Church of England. With honors in English literature and his Master of Arts degree in Trinity College, University of Dublin, he became a distinguished journalist.
In or around 1914, he was brought to America to join the staff of the Christian Science Monitor, serving in the capacity of foreign editor for ten years. At the same time, he authored a number of books. Shortly before his passing, he completed the manuscript of his long-cherished biographical portrait of Mrs. Eddy.
