Rev. Kratzer was a Protestant minister before coming into Christian Science in1906. He attended Primary Class taught by Edward Kimball, and in 1908 he and his wife, Elizabeth, became Journal listed Christian Science practitioners. He evidently did outstanding healing work, as patients came to him from all parts of the country.
He wrote essays for his patients, and when the Christian Science Board of Directors in Boston became aware of this, they asked him to withdraw his membership in the Church. He complied and then went on to publish his own writings including the classic book, Teaching and Addresses of Edward A. Kimball. The last pages of his book, Dominion Within, include Rev. Kratzer’s poignant reply to the Board’s request that he withdraw his membership in The Mother Church.
