In his 1941 address “The Power of Love” he states: “Are we not , indeed, a people loved of the Lord? We are not a confederation …. . We are an association of love, of understanding, of individualism, of compassion, of cooperation, of tolerance, of esteem. Our motto is that great injunction of John upon humanity, ‘Little children love one another.'”
